Yuejiang Tower: A 600-Year Dream Come True
Yuejiang Tower is a beautiful tower sitting on top of Lion Mountain in Nanjing, China. From there, you can see the great Yangtze River flowing by. It is known as one of the Four Great Towers of Jiangnan.
This tower has a very special story. Over 600 years ago, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty Zhu Yuanzhang wanted to build a grand tower here, and he even wrote a famous essay titled "Record of Yuejiang Tower".
However, after the foundation was laid, construction was halted due to state financial constraints and other reasons. For over 600 years, Yuejiang Tower existed only in these celebrated essays, creating the legendary phrase "having a record but no tower".
The dream finally came true! The real tower you see today was built and opened in 2001. It looks like a royal building from the Ming Dynasty, with bright yellow and green roofs. It stands 52 meters tall with seven stories (appearing as four from the outside) and a distinctive "L"-shaped layout. Inside, you can learn about history, like the great voyages of Zheng He.
Now, it's a place where people can climb up, enjoy the amazing view, and see how a 600-year-old dream became a real, beautiful tower.
