Luosi Zhuanwan is a winding hundred-meter lane in Nanjing’s Qinhuai District, stretching from Zhongshan South Road to Mochou Road. Its name, which dates back to the Ming Dynasty, literally means “Screw Turn”, derived from its snail-shell-like curves. Old boundary stones can still be found along the lane, quietly marking the passage of time.
To the north lies the former residence of Gan Xi, while to the south stands the historic Chaotian Palace. Like a subtle thread, it connects the everyday life of the Ming and Qing dynasties with the cultural legacy of the Six Dynasties. Today, Luosi Zhuanwan remains a tranquil yet vivid part of the city—preserving local memories while inviting visitors to slow down and discover Nanjing’s layered charm, where history and daily life gently intertwine.
