American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai Holds Roundtable with Nanjing Municipal Government
On June 10, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the Nanjing Foreign Affairs Office jointly hosted a government-business Roundtable in Nanjing, bringing together representatives from nearly 50 companies and officials from relevant Nanjing municipal government departments to discuss the city's development opportunities, policy priorities, and the business environment.
Chen Youming, Deputy Secretary General of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government; Lü Jing, Director of the Nanjing Foreign Affairs Office; and Chen Bin, Deputy District Mayor of Qinhuai District, all provided remarks. Representatives from the Nanjing Commerce Bureau, Development and Reform Commission, Industry and Information Technology Bureau, Health Commission, Commerce Bureau, and Human Resources and Social Security Bureau also participated and provided policy briefings.
Prior to the roundtable, participants visited the Southern New Town Planning Exhibition Hall to learn more about Nanjing's urban development strategy and future planning initiatives.
In video remarks, Eric Zheng, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, highlighted the importance of institutionalized and regular communication between government and business, particularly as companies continue to seek greater certainty and transparency in the global business environment. He also welcomed the positive outcomes of the recent US-China leaders' summit in Beijing and expressed member companies' hope that continued dialogue and engagement would contribute to a more stable and predictable business environment.

During the meeting, Nanjing government officials provided updates on the city's 15th Five-Year Plan, key industrial development priorities, foreign investment policies, Talent Policy 2.0 initiatives, and policies related to wholly foreign-owned hospitals. The roundtable provided an important opportunity for member companies to gain insights into Nanjing's development priorities and policy initiatives while strengthening communication and cooperation between the municipal government and the international business community.
